Bonkerz missing features

Please Please Please tell me this is reversible. You have ruined your image gen with this update. I can no longer rely on it for images and I promote merlin so this is a real blow. Why would you remove the newest model and ability for multiple models. You can't rely on NLP to choose models. It works horribly. I don't need pictures of other peoples half ass prompts. Is this reversable?

Hi Guy, Chetan Kumar and Elvin Barcafan, we're really sorry for the inconvenience we've caused. We're planning a rollback. Read more below about the changes that happened, and why they were made.
We'll add an option to voluntarily use the new Bonkers while it's still in development, and rollback getmerlin.in/bonkers to the old system. Please wait for a while, while we do that.
The reduced model list was to allow for newer, better models like Flux and Ideogram. We were planning to add finetuned models of these models in replacement to our legacy model list.
Also, the choice was an experiment to see if reducing choice fatigue could help more users who are not skilled at image generation.
A similar sentiment was behind the new feature of repurposing prompts, as in people could get inspired by prompts and images made by other, more skilled users.
The other two features are absent, because well, you guessed it - it is still incomplete.
Please don't worry -- we're planning to roll this back and improve it on the side. Pro users would most likely retain their unlimited queries on new Bonkers as well.
Thanks, and really sorry for the inconvenience.

Merlin So sorry to come off so abrasive. I was really wondering if the change was due to inability to still provide what was offered. I couldn't get close to the results I had before so was alarmed as I tell people to use this. Merlin has been top of my list for awhile. I was starting to think the image gen was going to restrict that. Thank you so much for what you do and service provided. Thanks for giving an option. Most companies would say to kick Rocks.

Merlin Just to pick up on "Pro users would most likely retain their unlimited queries on new Bonkers as well."
Why would we not?
That's the only reason I signed up to Pro. If I did not have unlimited images, I would cancel Pro.
Can you please confirm you are not going to stop Pro users from having unlimited image generation?

Merlin Re: image generation itself.
- Please don't reduce the model list, because some of those models are useful.
- What do you mean "finetuned models of these models"? Will that mean we can't access normal Flux, but a Merlin version of it? Or would this be on top of Flux?
- Choice fatigue - Not to sound harsh, but it's not my problem that new users might find image generation hard. They could have a "basic" mode, sure. But don't remove features that people who DO know how to use image generation use. Removing features for the perceived benefit of new users would be a really bad move. Just let them have a "basic" mode or a walkthrough. Or have some text explaining how it works. But don't remove options and features.
- I do not want other people to be able to see my prompts and images! That is a HUGE problem if you are planning that. I didn't even see this. Am I misunderstanding this?
Thanks for getting back to us on this.
Merlin
Guy: You would get unlimited image generation if you're a Merlin Pro user. The limit was actually related to a different, less expensive pricing tier, exclusively for image generation.
Merlin
Guy: 1. We understand that, and would take this into account when we improve the new UX.
- Finetuned, as in FLUX/Ideogram modified to be better for styles like anime, cartoon, realism, abstract, etc.
Our idea was that instead of having different models from different providers (say, like Render Works, etc.) (which would lead to a confusion on what model does what best), we could have a base model (like Flux Schnell/Pro/Ideogram) + a stylistic finetuned model variant that dictates the style of the image created.
This would lead to better expectation-outcome parity.
- Understood, thanks for your views on this.
- Pro users would be able to generate privately. The feature of making images public by default was supposed to be exclusive to Free users only, in our new vision for an image generation platform.
Our idea was that we wanted to make a standalone experience that also acts as a platform to create, engage and share -- as a place for visual inspiration. We are exploring the future of image generation on Merlin to be more social, mobile-first and engaging.
That being said, this is tentative and we'll reevaluate on how this is handled in the future, and cater to the users that want it to be private and like it is as of now.
Users' needs shall always be tended to, at Merlin.

- Thanks for confirming Pro users will still have unlimited image credits.
- Finetuning - That makes sense. Maybe that is a good idea. Like you say, that may end up with better results. So I can see the benefit of that if you can make it work. Because some of those other models are useless and don't do what you think they will. So maybe your idea is a better approach.
- Can you confirm - will we still be able to use the base models withoutfinetuning? So Flux Pro as it comes from the developer? And then use prompts to style as we want instead of having to use your finetuning.
- Definitely don't force public sharing on AppSumo or Pro users. Free is fine, as that's part of their bargain. But AppSumo/Pro users did not sign up for that. 👍
- If you go mobile-first, please don't forget to have a good experience for Desktop users. Mobile-first often results in a poor desktop experience. Personally, I rarely use Merlin on mobile. I hate using my phone for everything. So a good desktop experience is crucial.
Thanks!

Guy: 3. Yes.

Hi Joseph Gaither, please refer to the other post that you did. We've left a comment there.
tl;dr -- we're planning a rollback, with the option to try out the new version on a separate site, as we improve it.

Same here, seeing very less credits in the new bonkers UI, I am a AppSumo Tier 2 User I have around 10000 credits left but the Bonkers app is just showing 300 credits? Is it because you are testing the new version? Also why are all my generations publicly visible, is there a setting to not share my generations to public.

Elvin Barcafan
Yes i've noticed that too, and it's not cool at all. Also many models missing from the selection
G
Guy
Elvin Barcafan I suspect it's because it's not a full release, so not quite finished.
