Hi Merlin team,
This is a slightly desperate message, but I have to try.
A couple of years ago, Merlin had a small chatbot with a
black flame avatar
. It would open conversations with something like “Wha dya want?”
, and it had an unbelievably sharp, cynical, sarcastic personality.I absolutely loved that bot. Its ability to understand irony, second-degree humor, hidden meanings, and playful insults was honestly remarkable — especially for that time. A friend and I used to laugh a lot with it, and I still remember those conversations very clearly.
Then one day, it disappeared.
I have searched for it several times since then and never managed to find its name or any trace of it.
So this is my plea:
please tell me what that bot was — and if there is any chance at all, please bring it back.
Even as an experimental or legacy bot. It was genuinely one of the most memorable AI personalities I have ever used.Thank you for reading this very serious appeal on behalf of a tiny sarcastic black flame that deserves to live again.

Thank you for sharing this with us, and we’re really sorry that the bot you’re referring to is no longer available.
We completely understand why it was memorable for you. However, that chatbot has not been maintained for a long time, and we currently don’t have plans to bring it back as a legacy or experimental bot.
That said, you may be able to recreate a similar experience using Merlin’s Projects feature. Projects allow you to set up a custom prompt and define the personality, tone, and behavior of the assistant, including a sarcastic, cynical, witty style like the one you described.
You can create a project with instructions such as the bot’s tone, opening style, sense of humor, and conversational behavior, and Merlin will follow that custom setup during your chats.
We really appreciate your message and the love you had for that old bot. Feedback like this helps us understand what kinds of AI personalities users value and remember.
