Your diagnosis is clearly narrowed down: The error only occurs in the iOS mobile app; web version, permissions, file format, installation and login have already been checked.
The error remains unchanged. Uploading the same image works in the browser with the same account, but immediately fails with an exclamation mark in the iOS app. Please escalate the case to the iOS development team and review the native file/URI upload path.

Hey Hans, Thanks for reporting this to us, we are aware of this issue and apologise for your experience around this, given a few other fixes along side this one we plan to roll out a fix for the same issue as soon as possible.
