I think you can ease a lot of uploading (I do it myself) if you have a desktop version which can read and perform action based on local files without the need to upload the whole file.

endu I guess it's a bit simpler than RAG, but I'm not sure of the technical feasibility.

It is as simple as operating with files on your local machine, instead of uploading each to the cloud.
